Foley Faith
Bishop Foley Catholic High school strives to be a Christ-centered school that encourages students and staff to live as missionary disciples. We accomplish this mission by rooting our day in countless opportunities to pray, serve and learn.
Ventures Grounded in Christ
At Bishop Foley Catholic High School, we foster a Christ-centered environment where faith is warmly embraced and celebrated. Our mission is to guide students and staff to live as missionary disciples through daily opportunities for prayer, service, and learning.
High school is a pivotal time for exploring questions about religion, faith, and morality. At Bishop Foley, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming community that encourages open dialogue and meaningful conversations. We also offer an exploration into various Catholic practices and traditions, including the rich heritage of the Chaldean Catholic tradition.
Join us in a journey of faith that is supportive, engaging and deeply enriching! Learn more about the faith opportunities our Ventures experience throughout their time at BFC below.
MASS
Mass is celebrated at BFC each week of the academic year and bolstered by our outstanding Music Ministry. Students in every grade level are welcome and encouraged to participate as liturgical ministers after receiving appropriate instruction.
This year, we are pleased to once again invite members of the Foley family to join us for our weekly Masses. Please check the school calendar for the most up to date information regarding our Mass schedule.
Beginning in Spring 2024, we are excited to offer occasional Masses each year in the Chaldean Catholic tradition.
PRAYER
Prayer is an integral part of the daily Venture experience. At BFC, we begin and end each day with prayer as a community of faith. We follow the time honored tradition of
praying the Angelus at midday.
We find great merit in participating in the sacraments together as a community of faith. In addition to weekly Mass, Reconciliation is offered twice each academic year, typically during Advent and Lent, to enable our students the opportunity to participate in this sacrament.
Our students are invited to spend time in monthly Eucharistic Adoration.
RETREATS
Retreats are a vital part of the Foley experience and a graduation requirement. Students participate in a retreat at every grade level.
Freshman retreat is incorporated into freshman orientation and takes place at BFC as a way to welcome new students into the Foley Family of Faith.
Sophomore retreat is a one-day retreat conducted off campus, focusing on prayer and personal, spiritual growth.
Junior retreat is a two-day, overnight retreat off campus where students spend time bonding as a class and deepening their faith before moving into their final year at BFC.
Senior retreat is a three-day, two-night retreat at Our Lady of the Fields. In addition to spending time in prayer, reflection, and fellowship, students also kayak, zipline, and participate in high and low ropes courses.
"My favorite memory of Foley would have to be senior retreat because I got a lot closer to people I didn't really talk to and had a
lot of fun with my classmates."
— Ryan Maten, BFC '24
"My favorite memory at Foley was the Senior Retreat. I made lots of core memories with my friends and lots of funny memories."
— Miray Alkatib, BFC '24
"Junior and Senior Retreat [were] both opportunities where we were able to open up more to each other than we would normally and disconnect from the stress of school and life in general."
— Mara Gutierrez, BFC '23
"My favorite Foley memory is from our senior retreat, when we got to go on the water obstacle course."
— Andrea Friedel, BFC '24
“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with
Christ.”
— 1 Corinthians 12:12
CHRISTIAN SERVICE
As members of the body of Christ, we strive to do the work of God on Earth.
As a Christ-centered community, we seek to guide our students in reflecting the Image of God through their actions. The yearly service requirement
enables students to put their faith into action as they work in service of others. Additionally, this requirement serves as a way for students to broaden their understanding
of the community around them by offering their time and talents to people they do not meet on a daily basis.
The Chapel of All Holy Men and Women
The Heart of Bishop Foley Catholic
The Chapel of All Holy Men and Women was built into the physical heart of BFC. While it has undergone several renovations since 1965, it still stands in the middle of our school as a reminder
that Christ is at the center of all we do.
The crucifix directly over the altar is a primary symbol of our faith and shows the depth of Christ's love and sacrifice that we renew each time we approach the altar. This crucifix has hung
over the chapel altar since Bishop Foley Catholic first opened in 1965.
At the entrance of our Chapel, one encounters the procession of holy men and women of the past, flanked on each side by BFC students and saints in the making. Christ is at the center of this procession and in entering through the doors, one opens wide the heart of Jesus.
At the center is Christ who from generation to generation bids us to follow Him. As we open wide the doors, we are opening the heart of Jesus and find ourselves at the waters of baptism.
